My Great grandfather worked at Pilkington Glass works on the tanks which used to get very hot 1,000 degrees C to melt the raw materials. Sometimes he got burned.

Isobelle, that's really interesting. My Grandad used to work at Ravenhead Glass - which was renamed UGB. The glass industry has been very important in the history of St Helens.

Sophie brought in an old miners lamp to show us how they would have been able to see down the mine. Luke and Erin brought in books for us to have a look through and see the pictures of what the local area was like in the past.
