Y3 visits Norton Priory - Victorian Christmas

Lesson: History

Class: Year 3 Year: 2018 - 2019

Today we stepped back in time and joined the Victorian Brooke family servants for an unforgettable Christmas experience.

We spent the morning decorating gingerbread people and exploring Norton Priory’s fantastic galleries, museum and spectacular grounds (complete with Forest School enhancements).

We helped Mr Quigley, the butler and Miss Kirk, the housekeeper and cook decorate the Christmas tree, then assisted Miss Kirk with dinner preparations. We stirred the famous Christmas pudding mix, making a wish as we mixed, we prepared vegetables ready for roasting and made the tableware sparkle with seasonal cheer. We finished off our wonderful day by playing traditional parlour party games in the wine cellar.

A truly spectacular day, spent submerged in history, while discovering the wonders of our local heritage.

Thanks again to our dedicated parent helpers – always full of enthusiasm and a joy to take with us!
