Year 3 celebrates European Day of Languages and British Food Fortnight.

Lesson: Languages

Class: Year 3 Year: 2017 - 2018

Year 3 have spent the morning learning about French cuisine . The children touched, sniffed and tasted French ingredients, then compared them to the British equivalent. The children discovered that French cheese, such as camembert, is smooth, rich and creamy – whereas British cheese, such as Cheddar, is hard and has a tangy taste.

We used the French ingredients to make the classical French dish: Camembert baked in fresh rosemary & garlic, accompanied by threaded rosemary sprigs with olive oil infused baguettes and crushed, dried cranberries.

It was wonderful to see the children enjoy sampling the French and British ingredients. Nearly all of the children tasted a new food.

We then teamed up with Y4 to sample Estonian Crepes with Bristish fruits.

Happy ‘European Day Of Languages’ everyone!

Bon appétit!
