and Nursery SchoolFestivities begin
We have had a time with our amazing nativity performances, a fabulous festive Craft and Father Christmas Fair and today has seen our Christmas dinner, complete with sprouts, and our famous Garswood's Got Talent - produced and performed by our amazing children.
There are so many special moments I could mention from across these amazing events - not least the wonderful effort made by the amazing team of staff to create special memories for the children of Garswood School.
Our Wriggly Nativity, with the youngest children in our school - Nursery and Reception - was simply wonderful. Followed swiftly by a rather splendid Strictly themed, "Dance, Camel, Action!" from Y1 and Y2. It had us all laughing with delight before a very emotional, tearjerker song at the end. The children across all classes, were superb and the feedback we have had from our families has made my cry! One parent has written, "Fabulous! Everyone tried so hard and everyone had a chance to shine!" So true - every child really did shine.
Our fair on Friday was such fun! Real reindeers and a visit from the Big Man Himself! Having listened to our carol singers (to open the fair) we enjoyed hot chocolate whilst playing your cards right, entering the raffle and tombola, painting Christmas cups, buying lots of treats, guessing the weight of the cake and the name of the teddy as well as countless other activities! Amazingly we have raised £2113 to date and the total keeps rising as we sell some of the remaining items in our entrance hall. We'll be able to invest in some new playground resources, mathematics resources and reading books. Thank you for all your support!
Our choir have also sang at the recent community tree lighting and Y6 also lit up Parish Church joining with other schools in the town for a traditional Christmas Sing. We are spreading Christmas Cheer - singing loud for all to hear!
Finally, after tucking into our delicious dinner, we took to the stage for Garswood's Got Talent - and boy, haven't they got talent?! They also have amazing confidence - singers, comedians, dancers. What a privilege to play a part, seeing the people that they are becoming. We have the best job in the world.
