Books, skipping, snow and celebration!
Another busy week at Garswood.
This year we celebrated World Book Day by dressing as our favourite characters. We saw lots of smiles and lots of wonderful books. In the assembly we encouraged the children to step inside their books and imagine what they could see. From their descriptions we successfully guessed their favourite books.
It wasn't hard to see who Mrs Chadwick dressed as! #theresnoplacelikehome #Garswood
We also welcomed Skip2BeFit to the school and had a great day with some amazing new skipping ropes which count the skips! We skipped along to different music tracks and improved on our own scores to achieve a personal best. It was great to apply these skills when we skipped for the sponsored skip on Friday. Raising money for the Oncology Unit at Alder Hey in support of one of our own families who are accessing the provision, everyone put so much effort in.
Thank you to all of the sponsors - at the most recent count on Friday 2nd March we had raised £603 - which is simply marvellous and likely to increase as more money is collected!
We seem to have escaped the worst of the Beast from the East and Storm Emma but we did have the chance to enjoy some of the snow this week. There was even a happy looking snowman joining us on the school playground! This didn't stop our Junior Road Safety Officers from reminding everyone of the new initiative Walk Once A Week - promoting the healthy approach to travelling to school and saving the environment at the same time! They'll be logging everyone's efforts from Monday 5th March so get healthy and join the movement!
Finally on Friday there was great fun for Nursery and Reception who celebrated Holi. This celebration of colour is the Hindu welcoming of Spring. We've never celebrated in the snow before but there was still lots of Bhangra dancing, drumming and the colour throwing!
A super week filled with fantastic times - making memories.
