Half term time
I write on the final day of our half term - it has been an exceptionally difficult time for everyone in our community but once again I write to thank you. We have been shown so much support during such a challeging time for everyone. I thank out families for working with us. Managing new systems, managing remote learning alongside teaching, applying new and increased measures in school to keep bubbles apart - it all takes cooperation. Together we’ve managed to unpick the guidance and ensure that isolation has happened when needed and thankfully we’ve managed to prevent any cases spreading through the school. We know we’ve been lucky but I do thank our families and the members of staff who have all made an exceptional effort.
As we end the day with a ‘frightful fun’ event, I hope you can also see the effort we continue to make to keep school a fun place to be. We were amazed and delighted by the many costumes. The children (and staff) looked amazing! We are committed to making happy memories for our children and securing positive outcomes.
Congratulations goes to those worthy winners of our citizenship certificates this half term, Flynn, Barnaby, Joseph, Max, Lewis, Lucy and Georgia. We were also proud to award kindness badges each week this half term, to those children showing this important quality and making a difference to those around them. Congratulations also to Chestnut house who are the winning house for this half term. I’m sure they’ll enjoy deciding their deserved treat just as we all enjoyed celebrating their win in our virtual assembly.
Tomorrow we are holding our virtual pupil progress meetings. Parents have had the chance to opt for a telephone call, video conference or written report on their child's TEAMs channel. Another different approach that is new to us all - but one we embrace to continue to work in partnership to best support our children’s continued learning journey.
Finally, as we continue to do all we can to keep Garswood safe, please note - if your child shows symptoms at any point during the 48 hours after leaving school this evening, please get them tested. If the test is positive, please inform us on [email protected] in order that we can alert the necessary people and inform them of the need to isolate.
May also I take the opportunity to wish you a restful and healthy half term and hope to see you all back at school on 2nd November.
