Baking in Reception

Class: Old Foundation Stage Year: 2015 - 2016

Mrs Potter gave each class five ingredients, beetroot, carrots, cream cheese, tomatoes and pineapple. We made a beetroot and chocolate cake and carrot and pineapple cupcakes. We worked in teams to create our recipes and wrote the ingredients in our writing books. We found out where our food came from and which foods were healthy. We mixed the tomatoes with rock salt to make paint. We painted a sign, explaining which ingredients were in our cakes. We were amazed when we cut into the beetroot! We discussed what we could see and smell.

We worked so hard today. Taking turns, discussing our plans, following instructions, cooperating, counting and measuring, mixing and chopping, predicting, exploring the meaning of new words and tasting! Yummy!
