Capillaries in cabbages

In Year 5 we have been experimenting with the xylem and phloem within cabbage leaves.  We designed an experiment to test out our theory and left a spliced cabbage leaf overnight in some warm water.  Each cup of warm water had food colouring in (red and blue), one side of the leaf in each cup. If our predictions are successful then our leaves will change colour due to capillary action overnight. Fingers crossed!
