Chinese New Year
Lesson: Understanding the World
Class: Old Foundation Stage Year: 2014 - 2015
On Thursday 12th February the children in Foundation Stage were learning all about Chinese New Year. They learnt all about the traditions and customs before ending the day in a dance workshop. The children loved using the ribbons and fans to dance with and they were all so enthusiastic.
As part of our learning, during the week, the children made and decorated chinese laterns, practised some chinese writing and also learnt how to say Happy New Year in Chinese.
In Reception we had a chinese dragon, which we found out is used to drive away evil spirits as part of the Chinese New Year celebrations. We all got underneath the dragon and danced around the classroom pretending to scare things away.
It was so much fun!
