Lowry Workshop & Media City tour
Lesson: Art and design
Class: Year 1 Year: 2016 - 2017
Wow, what a great day! Y1 visited the Salford Quays to study Lowry’s work and had a snoop around backstage at the BBC.
The children have been inspired by Lowry’s artistic techniques. They practised mastering the art of Lowry style shading: cross hatching, smudging, highlighting and using the edge of the pencil. We cannot wait to develop our own Lowryinspired final pieces back at school! The children were in awe of Lowry’s actual master pieces:
"I'll remember this day forever.” A lovely comment whispered by one of our children as they looked up at Lowry’s master piece.
We then nipped across to Media City to learn how television shows are made. We learned all about semi anechoic chambers, MPAS studios, autocues and much more!
