Baking Bread

In reception we made hedgehog bread. We learned the 4 basic ingredients - flour, yeast, tepid water, pinch of sugar. We learned to knead the dough - push, fold, turn. We watched it rise to twice the size and then we made the dough into hedgehogs. Such a lot of learning - physical development, mathematics, knowledge and understanding of the world, expressive arts and design.
The bread was delicious. We enjoyed eating it with some tayberry jam from Kenyan Hall Farm. We learned skills of breaking the bread, passing the jam, spreading the jam. Yum!
