Manchester Visit
Lesson: History
Class: Year 1 Year: 2024 - 2025
This half term, Year 1 visited The National Football Museum and The Lowry Art Gallery as part of their History work about famous local people.
In the morning, we visited the Lowry Art Gallery and took part in an art workshop with a talented artist. We had chance to look round the gallery and admire the original work of L.S Lowry. We then used his work as inspiration for our own cityscape sketches. Did you know L.S Lowry only used 5 colours in his art work?
Year 1 are excited to learn more about L.S Lowry next half term.
In the afternoon, we went to The National Football Museum in the city centre of Manchester. Here, we took part in a workshop all about Lily Parr. We had learnt about her in our History lessons and the children were excellent at recalling their knowledge about this famous local figure. We got the chance to see and compare old and new football memorabilia. We also saw the only statue of Lily Parr.
