Martin Mere
Lesson: Science
Class: Year 4 Year: 2015 - 2016
This trip supported the children’s science focus; looking at different animals and the different habitats in which they live in. The children used what they had learned at Martin Mere to identify similarities and differences between animal life cycles.
Children were able to use their map skills through the ‘wild walk’, finding their own way to the stepping stone river and giant birds nest. The children’s geography and maths was also supported when identifying the journey of the migrating birds on a world map and calculating how many miles was travelled by a flock of birds from Iceland to England.
The children’s English was supported through lots of discussion during the day and when back at school. The children were able to talk confidently about their trip, leading them to write some fantastic recounts about their day.
