Peace Of Mind Cafe

Class: Year 4 Year: 2023 - 2024

Over the last few years, I have been involved in supporting the local dementia support group- Peace of Mind Dementia Café at St Andrews Mission Hall in Garswood.

Today eight children came along to volunteer. The children drew pictures for the members, joined in with singing and dancing, helped with the raffle and with serving cakes.

We have introduced the charity in class and have started our learning to ensure that the children develop an age-appropriate understanding of dementia, and the impact it can have on a person and their family.

The project has shown such positivity for our children and the visitors at the café. The children developed maturity, understanding and demonstrated such a caring approach to members of the community and the members at the Café loved the support they received from the children. In the past, we also took part in fund raising events and donated the funds to Dementia UK as we hope to do again this year.
