Class: Year 5 Year: 2018 - 2019

Today we have been baking in true World War One style.  The children measured out and followed recipes to create Trench Cake and Baked Jam Roll.  Trench cake was sent to the men in the trenches to keep up spirits and included the ingredient of vinegar!  Baked Jam Roll was a special treat made with rationed ingriedients.  Children worked brilliantly in teams to delegate roles and follow a recipe and even did some maths converting the old metric measurements from ounces to grams and fluid oz to ml.
