During a Science lesson, Y4 explored how chocolate buttons melted in their hands. They then took a tea light candle and held it for the same amount of time. Some of the children were surprised when the candle did not melt. They then worked in groups to write questions, based on this discovery, to explore in class. Each group then chose a question and planned their experiment. The children then got to conduct their experiments to see if they could answer their questions.

Finally, Will asked, 'Does the temperature affect the solid we are trying to melt?' The children worked as a class to compare the temperature at which different solids melt.
