Super Sukkahs

Class: Year 2 Year: 2016 - 2017

We have been learning about the Jewish festival of Sukkot and we compared this to our Harvest celebration and assembly in September. We decided to make our own Sukkahs so the children worked in teams to build a Sukkah using natural materials in our forest school area. Each group spent time looking for suitable branches and thought carefully about how they would secure the branches so that the structure would be stable.  Once their structure was complete they ensured the stars could be seen through the roof and decorated this with fruit and natural materials such as grass and leaves. We even had our first fire in the forest school area and talked about fire safety.
