Lesson: Science
Class: Year 2 Year: 2017 - 2018
Y2 were were surprised when they entered the classroom this morning and found an elf had zip-lined in and left a letter. The elf had written a letter asking for help - he needed a blanket to keep him warm in the North Pole. After lots of discussions and different ideas, Y2 set up an investigation to test four different materials and see which one would keep the elf the warmest. They poured warm water in four cups and used a thermometer to measure the starting temperature. They then covered each one with a different material, waited twenty minutes and then measured the temperature again. They knew that the material that kept the water the warmest would be the best for the blanket. all of the groups found out that the tin foil was the best. After the investigation, the children wrote a reply to the chilly elf telling him which material was best.
