World Book Night
Lesson: Literacy
Garswood had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day 2023 last night. The children had a great show from Dylan's reptiles. They met a number of different creature book characters as Dylan referenced the books throughout his presentation. In addition they learnt about corn snakes; bearded dragons; tortoises; skinks and bullfrogs. The children had the opportunity, later in the night, to hold the lovely reptiles and they were in awe.
They also got the chance to:
-
meet some owls and other birds from texts such as 'Owl babies';
-
search for the treasure in the pirate room and play some pirate games like 'Pirate's Next Door';
-
follow the book scavenger hunt and learn about authors;
-
make some pancakes for Mr Wolf from 'Mr Wolf's Pancakes';
-
visit 'Charlie and the Chocolate factory' for some sweet treats;
-
create some original poems like Dr Seuss;
-
jump the rooftops of Paris in a parkour experience like 'Rooftoppers';
-
play a magical game of Quidditch as though they were a character from 'Harry Potter'.
After some prizes for 'the most couragous Quidditch player' and 'most creative poet' were awarded the children applauded and cheered. A fantastic night was had by all and the children had a magical, imaginative, booktastic time.
